A week of Marine Biology at Bamfield inspired me to create a design derived from remnants washed up along the beach. I decided to incorporate a combination of seaweed and crab while also integrating an additional medium with text directly relating to the subject.
Along the Westcoast of Vancouver, there is an abundance of shellfish and I wanted to portray this message through my art. The Purple Shored Crab is a small arthropod commonly found on the underside of rocks. In this work, I focused on showing the repetition of the theme “natural forms” to create a sense of movement and direction. Throughout this composition, natural forms became fractured, lost and found as designs.
