The Cause: St. James Community Service Society

Did you know it costs more in health and social care costs to keep someone homeless that to provide supported housing? Or that by conservative estimates we need 2,500 more units of housing to address homelessness in Vancouver?

St. James Community Service Society is a broad-based social service agency providing care and support for the most marginalized and vulnerable, while also working to transform communities for the future. For nearly 50 years they have been making a difference in the lives of people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, throughout the city, and across the Lower Mainland. They care for those who face homelessness, poverty and isolation, mental illness and addictions, as well as chronic and terminal illness. Their team of 300 dedicated staff provide a spectrum of crisis, housing, personal care, financial support, and end-of-life services to over 2,000 people a year.

Partial proceeds from this Qolo t-shirt campaign will go towards addressing one of the fastest growing groups of the homeless: women and children. Each year St. James' women's emergency shelter and housing program serves over 800 people, keeping everyone safe and warm, and helping about 350 of them find permanent housing.
